Started Fixing Up the House

This place was pretty much a wreck when we got it, but obviously we paid for it as it was. Apparently the place had been vacant for a year and a half at the least. The Bank of America apparently foreclosed on it and did very little to keep it up after the fact. It was probably foolish of them to not simply dump it to some person who would try to flip it when it was in good shape. I had to go to Los Angeles Shutters and get some new shutters. Apparently some sort of maniac must have decided to vandalize the house for no reason. It is not like a maniac needs a reason to do some such silly thing of course.

I have decided that I am going to sell my vacation house, because I could use the extra money. I am not in any sort of dire need for the money though, so I am going to take my time, and fix up the place before I sell it. I have a whole list of things that I would like to do in order to help the house sell for more money. One of the first things that I would like to look into, is gettingplantation shutters installed, and that is something that I will definitely try to budget enough money to get done.

I have seen some pretty nice plantation shutters in the area, and I imagine that there is a contractor around that does good work. I need to figure out where the best place to get them from is, and then give them a call. I am pretty sure that this is one of my top priorities, but there are other things that are pretty important as well. I am going to have to put new tile floor in a lot of the areas of the house, but I am going to do that on my own.

If you are a plumber and are finding times tough, don’t think that you are Robinson Crusoe and all alone. Many small to medium sized trade businesses are finding the going hard today.

Even the economists can’t agree on what may happen over the next 6-12 months. All the average Joe or Jill can do is use their best common sense based on past performance. This means understanding who your customers are and where they came from. Once you know where your customers are finding your business then you will know where will be the best place to put your reduced advertising spend.

This is not the time to stop advertising and marketing your small business. Too many small plumbing businesses find money is in short supply and so the first thing they are tempted to cut-back on is the advertising. This is the time to take a hard look at where you are spending those advertising dollars and assessing the return on the investment; not for stopping advertising all together. If people don’t know that you exist, then your small plumbing business probably won’t exist much longer.

What you need to do is go over all the jobs you have done in the past 12 months and list down where they found you or who gave them to you if it was another trade or architect/engineer.
